About

Hi, I’m Michael.

I’m a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor teaching in Connecticut. I started Elite Scuba and Travel so my students wouldn’t stop at the certification card — they’d keep diving, together, somewhere beautiful.

My classes are small and unhurried. I’d rather spend an extra half hour on buoyancy in the pool than rush you into open water. When you’re ready, I’ll be on the boat with you.

Questions students ask

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

You’ll need to swim 200 yards (any stroke, no time limit) and float or tread water for 10 minutes. That’s it.

How old do I have to be?

Junior Open Water starts at age 10. Students under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign enrollment forms, and minors travel on trips only with a guardian.

Can I finish my certification on a trip?

Yes. Complete eLearning and pool sessions at home, then do your four open-water dives in warm, clear water on any trip marked “certify-on-trip.”

Is there a medical requirement?

Everyone completes a short medical questionnaire. Some answers require a physician’s sign-off before entering the water — we’ll walk you through it.
